Who is Dr Craig Costello?

An Australian trained Neurologist, Dr Craig Costello graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003, before going on to complete his early basic physician training locally. Passing his physician exams at The Townsville Hospital in 2008, he became their first Chief Medical Registrar.

In 2009, he moved to Melbourne to undertake specialty training within two leading neurological departments at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Austin Hospital. Under the guidance of leading specialists, he acquired comprehensive training on neurological assessments including extensive exposure to strokes, epilepsy and other neurological conditions.

During his final year of training, Dr Costello completed a 12 month neurophysiology fellowship, where he acquired additional specialist skills in EEG; nerve conduction studies; electromyography and injectable therapy for neurological disorders.

In March 2012, he honoured his intention to return to Townsville with his young family to commence his own practice North Queensland Neurology; fulfilling his long held commitment and desire to provide quality neurological services to the North Queensland community.

To date, he has become the only local member and Chair of the Regional Neurology Committee and Chair of the Workforce committee of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists.

Dr Costello participates in the Townsville to Cairns Bike Ride each year, raising much needed funds for childhood cancer research.  He has been participating in this ride since 2016.  To round this out and make it a family affair, his wife Emma participated for her first time in 2019
